first_imgHyderabad: The Kaleswaram lift irrigation project in Telangana, touted as the worlds largest multi-stage lift irrigation scheme, would be inaugurated on Friday.It would be inaugurated in the presence of Governor of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh ESL Narasimhan. State Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had gone to Mumbai and Vijayawada last week to invite his Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh counterparts Devendra Fadnavis and Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy respectively for the inauguration. The project is expected to supply water to 70 per cent of districts in the state to meet agriculture, drinking water and the industrial needs. Meanwhile, the ruling TRS and opposition Congress are engaged in a war of words on the project with Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader M Bhatti Vikramarka alleging irregularities with regard to Kaleswaram project. He told reporters in Delhi on Thursday the project is being inaugurated in a hurry without even 15 per cent of it being completed. “If you (Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao) say that everything is being done transparently, then place all information regarding that (project) comprehensively on website.
