Flags Lowered to Honour Fallen Officers
Flags at all provincial buildings have been lowered to half-masttoday, March 4, in memory of the four RCMP officers who werekilled Thursday, March 3, in Alberta. Justice Minister Michael Baker says Nova Scotians, like allCanadians, were shocked by the tragedy which occurred on a farmin Mayerthorpe, Alta. “On behalf of Nova Scotians, I want to send our condolences tothe families of those very brave officers who died in the line ofduty,” said Mr. Baker. “It’s a reminder that each day here inNova Scotia, members of the RCMP work on our behalf to maintainlaw and order and keep our communities safe. We are deeplysaddened at the news from Alberta, but want officers and theirfamilies to know they are in our thoughts and prayers.” Mr. Baker will send an official letter of condolence to RCMPCommissioner Giuliano Zaccardelli.
