first_imgSteve Bruce will mark his hundredth game at Aston Villa when the club faces Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday. He hopes to lead the team on to win their second game in the space of five days.Since Bruce replaced Roberto Di Matteo in 2016, Aston Villa has plunged into a series of difficulties after the manager’s initial period of glory. Villa was not able to qualify to the Premier League last season.Just recently, Villa has suffered a lack of win in five straight games and the fans had demanded that the 57-year-old manager should step down. But Bruce has not been totally disheartened about the hard time he’s suffering currently at Villa, claiming he has enjoyed this period most.“The bigger the challenge, the more I want to get stuck into it,” Bruce said, according to Express & Star.Steve BruceAllardyce praises Newcastle’s Steve Bruce Manuel R. Medina – September 11, 2019 Sam Allardyce believes Steve Bruce is a better fit at English Premier League side Newcastle United than he would ever have been.“There’s something sick in me, unfortunately. I really think that. The harder it goes the more I enjoy it.“Every club you manage, it’s a tough job. But certainly the size of the club, to nearly being in administration during the summer, that was a ridiculous scenario really.“Has it been the most difficult? Arguably. But in a perverse way it has been the most enjoyable.“It is a great club and has been an honour to manage, along with some great names who have managed this club before. I am one of them. It doesn’t happen to many.”last_img read more

Real Madrid legend Vinicius should consider leaving

first_imgReal Madrid legend Miguel Salgado feels that Vinicius Junior should consider finding a new club, where there will be less pressure to developAfter arriving from Brazilian side Flamengo in the summer for a staggering €40m, Vinicius has struggled to insert himself into manager Julen Lopetegui’s plans. The 18-year-old winger had been demoted to the Real Madrid Castilla team before receiving his first call-up to the senior team in last Saturday’s 1-0 win over Espanyol in La Liga.Although Vinicius did not feature in the game itself and Salgado believes that it’s in the teenager’s best interests to go to another side, where there will be less pressure on him due to his big price tag.“We have to think about what to do now with him. There is pressure on the coach and the player. They have to stay calm now and expect a good opportunity, “Salgado told UOL.James Rodriguez, Real MadridZidane hails ‘quality’ James Rodriguez after Real Madrid’s win Andrew Smyth – September 14, 2019 Zinedine Zidane reserved special praise for James Rodriguez after his starring role in Real Madrid’s 3-2 win over Levante.“Maybe he should look for another good team in Spain, where he can play without pressure and for more minutes. Pressure is not good for new players and in Real Madrid he has a lot of pressure. ”“Real Madrid is not like other teams, it is a team that has a lot of pressure. The boy cost € 45m although no one knew him. ”“So far, he has played well for the second team, where he has shown more talent than others.“He has a wonderful dribble, especially in terms of speed. There is no doubt that he is a very good investment for the future.”last_img read more

Rocchi shares his thoughts on how to improve VAR

first_imgItalian referee Gianluca Rocchi has recently shared his thoughts on how to improve the controversial VAR.Rocchi thinks the VAR needs a review following recent questions about its lack of clarity in football games.“There’s no referee who can be against it,” he told Football Italia.“I did four Roman derbies without sleeping for three nights, but I enjoyed the last two. Our approach doesn’t change but I know that if there’s technology, it can fix a mistake I make.“The real problem is the line of intervention. Sometimes you get involved too much, sometimes too little, but you can remove or add pressure on the referee from the VAR booth.“We always say in meetings: the VAR doesn’t have to be a friend of the referee if you love [the referee], you unconsciously risk not wanting to make a fool of them and not correcting a mistake, which could save a game.Rick Karsdorp, Roma, Serie AKarsdorp reveals he had too much stress at Roma Manuel R. Medina – September 14, 2019 The Dutch defender has been with the Gialorrossi since 2017, but he has not enjoyed his time in the Italian Lega Serie A.“Still, VAR isn’t slow motion: it must correct any clear errors and not butt into any questionable situations.“The secret of good refereeing at the World Cup was also that: I was sceptical, but splitting [the roles] worked.“Nothing changes with VAR, it reinforces the concept [of refereeing], but what might not be clear for me maybe is for a Coach or fan because that incident could change the game.“It’s all about subjectivity. As for handballs: if I deem one voluntary and but a colleague of mine doesn’t, who is right?“It’s both or neither of us, so it’s easy for anyone who wants to make controversy to do that.“Nowadays communication is crucial, but not everyone has broad shoulders to explain an error: a young man on TV can get himself into trouble, so they must be protected.”last_img read more

JAMAICA 47 Foreign Nationals Granted Citizenship

first_imgFacebook Twitter Google+LinkedInPinterestWhatsApp#Jamaica, December 18, 2017 – Kingston – Forty-seven foreign nationals living in Jamaica have been granted citizenship by the Government.   They were presented with documents formalizing their status by the Passport, Immigration and Citizenship Agency (PICA) during a swearing-in ceremony at the Police Officers’ Club in St. Andrew on December 14.   The ceremony was attended by National Security Minister, Hon. Robert Montague, who has portfolio responsibility for PICA.Mr. Montague said the occasion was a time to celebrate the fact that despite the challenges facing the country, there are still hundreds of persons from other nations who want to make Jamaica their home and “want to share this privilege with those of us who are born here”.Noting that some 2,000 persons were deported from the island last year, with another 537 being denied entry, the Minister emphasised that the participants had been afforded an “exceptional privilege” by being granted citizenship.“We are happy to welcome you. (While) each person has a different background, what unites us is that you are now Jamaicans.   You have varying skills and talents, which can now be used to help your new country.   You will now take on the duties and responsibilities of Jamaican citizens… and you must take these very seriously,” he added.Mr. Montague encouraged them to engage in community activities and civic duties while honoring their statutory obligations.   Meanwhile, Chief Executive Officer of PICA, Andrew Wynter, pointed out that approximately 3,000 foreigners are granted Jamaican citizenship annually.    He said that the latest batch of 47 persons represents the largest number of candidates granted citizenship on a single occasion, adding that PICA has granted citizenship to some 10,000 persons during its 10 years as an executive agency.“This is a watershed moment for the agency, as we have come to recognize that there are approximately three to five million Jamaicans in the diaspora who have descendants, relatives and others who are eligible for Jamaican citizenship.   It is our intention to reach out to them to be a part of the family of this our great Jamaica,” Mr. Wynter said.Citizenship recipient, Dr. Ehis-Oje Pius Areghan, who responded on behalf of the group, described the occasion as an opportunity that “comes with responsibilities”.“It now becomes our responsibility (as new citizens) to exercise our civic duties, especially to help one another,” he said.Dr. Areghan, who is originally from Nigeria, is based at the Cornwall Regional Hospital in Montego Bay.    “I am happy to be (here). The joy and love I have gotten from Jamaicans, I doubt I would ever get it in any other country,” he added. Facebook Twitter Google+LinkedInPinterestWhatsApp Related Items:last_img read more

first_imgLaporte has not been included in France’s lineup since appearing on the bench in their 2-0 loss to Spain back in March of 2017.Aymeric Laporte says Didier Deschamps has “personal reasons” for not letting him debut for the French squad, yet. Despite Laporte becoming a regular starter in Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City this season, Deschamps hasn’t given the youngster an opportunity.Laporte is sure that Deschamps’ decision is not based on his current form on the pitch.“There is a coach and he doesn’t call me, so I need to wait, to keep working and that’s it,” Laporte told EiTB, according to FourFourTwo.“Of course I don’t think it’s because of a sporting issue, you’d have to ask him personally, I don’t have anything personal against him, but if someone has a problem it’s him and not me.“I could be a world champion… but these are the decisions of the coach, who is not calling me for, I think, personal reasons, and I have to respect him.norwich city, manchester city, premier leagueReport: City are stunned by Norwich George Patchias – September 14, 2019 Manchester City was stunned by Norwich City in todays Premier League clash.Much has been made in recent days of the potential impact of Aymeric…“I’m not going to call him. The only person who can solve this is the coach.”Laporte started his career at Athletic Bilbao before moving to Premier League champions Manchester City in January of 2018. He could also be eligible to play for Spain, but the 24-year-old wants to play for his birth country, instead.“Play with Spain? I think that’s already closed, but even so I opt for France because I’m French,” Laporte said.“I don’t have dual citizenship and I’m not going to ask for it.
