first_img“We are very proud of another SVG CSMA Award nomination for the Southland Conference, and we’re also excited for the well-deserved recognition given to the Southeastern Channel, one of the best student broadcast operations in the nation,” said Southland Conference Commissioner Tom Burnett. “We have long been gratified with our broadcast efforts, and these award nominations are indicative that the Conference’s potential in this space is beneficial and often recognized for excellence, both at the league and institutional level.” FRISCO, Texas – The Southland Conference and the student-run Southeastern Channel at Southeastern Louisiana University are finalists for 2018 SVG College Sports Media Awards (CSMA), presented by Sports Video Group (SVG) and the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA).  The nominees selected as finalists were announced last week, and winners will be selected by a panel of judges and announced at the ninth-annual College Sports Media Awards ceremony May 31 at the SVG College Summit in Atlanta.Seeking its third College Sports Media Award (2010, 2013), the league’s 2017 softball tournament championship game broadcast is one of six in contention for the title of nation’s best Outstanding Live Game Production in the College Athletics category. The Southland joins Auburn (War Eagle Productions), Syracuse, Texas Tech, Alabama (Crimson Tide Productions) and Notre Dame (Fighting Irish Media) as finalists for the award.?????? See you in Atlanta!????: #SVGCollege @sportsvideo @SVGCollege @NACDA— SVG College (@SVGCollege) May 8, 2018 The Southeastern Channel, a multiple Emmy award-winning student broadcast operation, is up for the best in Collegiate Student, Outstanding Live Non-Game Production.  The Southeastern Channel, which has two entries listed as finalists – “The Big Game” and “The Big Game – Quick Hits” – is joined in the category by other finalists Arizona State, St. Cloud State, Temple and Virginia Tech.  Southeastern is the only double-nominee in the category.center_img In addition to the nominations, Southland Conference Associate Commissioner Chris Mycoskie, who manages the league’s broadcasting operations, is serving as a moderator at the SVG College Summit’s panel discussion on mid-major productions, a group that will also feature panelist Clint Burges, director of video operations at Southland member Lamar University. Burges will also speak on another panel addressing centralized production room operations on campuses.last_img
