first_imgNational Soccer Academy development team Besta PNG United went head to head with Admiralty FC for the last time this season with Admiralty coming out winners 3-1.The match got underway on Saturday in Port Moresby at the Bisini soccer ground as the National Soccer League ended its round 14 matches before heading into the semi-finals next weekend.The development team suffered the loss following the absence of some of its key players who are out of the country for the U19 World Cup Qualifiers.Admiralty took advantage and played well, scoring three goals which included one from a penalty shoot out. Both teams struggled to score in the first 30 minutes of the game with both teams defending well.Admiralty organised well and got on track 10 ten minutes before half time, scoring their first goal 1-0 through Poakot Poesi who found the net after a great set up by Mark Gobono.In the second half Admiralty continued their lead, scoring their second goal through Moffat Kalif to make it 2-0 following a penalty shoot out.The penalty shoot out came after Pettyshen Elizah was knocked down right in front of Besta’s net by Besta’s Russel Chris who was given a yellow card.Admiralty were on fire scoring their third goal ten minutes later through Moffat Kalifa after a second attempt straight through the net.Besta fired back ten minutes later with a powerful goal by Maskulan Pulung straight through the net ten metres away.However Besta lost composure in the remaining minutes of the game following two missed opportunities right in front of Admiralty’s net with full time score 3-1.The game was the final match played in Port Moresby for the season as both semi-finals will be played in Lae, Morobe province.Results from the double header in Lae, the undefeated minor premiers Hekari United FC continued their winning streak, beating Gigira Laitepo Morobe FC 3-1, while Lae FC thrashed bottom team Eastern Stars FC 4-0.The semi-finals next weekend will see the top four teams battle for a place in the grand final. They are top team Hekari, Morobe FC, Lae FC and Oro FC.Besta have finished in the 2014 season in fifth place followed by Admiralty in sixth place and Eastern Stars in seventh spot.last_img
